Frequently Asked Questions

Presently the daily cost is £2.50. Dinner money should be paid at the school office at the start of each week. If you think that your child is entitled to free school meals, please speak to a member of staff in the office.

School starts at 8.50am but children are able to enter their classrooms from 8.35am.

We expect all children to wear uniform to school. Please click here to see more information.

We share a car park with the Frank Myler Sports and Recreational Centre. We request that parents park responsibly in the car park, using the designated parking areas.

We don’t recommend children cycle to school due to the busy nature of the surrounding roads. We do not have facilities to store bicycles at school.

Reception and KS1 children should be accompanied by an adult. Older children can walk to and from school at their parents’ discretion.

We always promote healthy eating and encourage our parents to make healthy choices when putting together a packed lunch for their child.

Please be aware that we are a NUT FREE school due to nut allergies. Therefore, please ensure your child's snack/packed lunch do not contain any nuts.

Parents must either sew a name label into all clothing or write the child’s name in indelible ink. If an item goes missing your child must inform the class teacher or class teaching assistant. We will do our utmost to find lost items but we are unable to provide a replacement.

We offer varied support in the transition from primary to secondary school. This process includes a parents’ and pupil meetings and transition days. Our pupils go on to various secondary schools across Halton.

This will depend on their age and parental preference, usually children join Reception class in the September before their 5th birthday. For further advice you can speak to the school office staff.

No, we normally discourage toys or collectables (e.g. football cards) being brought to school, unless the class teacher has specifically requested that they do. Please always check with the class teacher.

We add copies of letters to our school’s communication app. This can be downloaded free. Search for SchoolPing on Google Play or Apple store. The app also contains a Calendar outlining planned events for each term.

We would politely discourage parents from trying to talk to a teacher in the morning as they are busy preparing for the school day and can only receive the briefest of messages at that time. We would advise you to speak to the teacher at the end of the school day after all the children have been dismissed. We can also make appointments in the school office for parents to see the class teacher or another member of staff.

Teachers also meet parents and carers informally at coffee mornings and more formally at parent/teacher consultation days. 

We have a Breakfast Club before school. This starts at 7.45am. It costs £2.00 per day. Parents need to complete a registration form available from the school office if they wish their child to attend.

We have an afterschool club called 'Night Owls' This runs each evening from 3.20pm - 6.00pm. The cost is £5 per session., Please note sessions need to be prebooked. Please contact the school office for further details.

At Ditton we offer a variety of clubs for different age groups. These run after school from 3.20pm - 4.15pm. Clubs change every term and you will always be notified in the first week of the new term so you can apply.

We encourage parents to get involved in various ways from attending coffee/open mornings/afternoons, making appointments for parents meetings, attending fund raising events to individual reading and ensuring children complete homework tasks.

We run a number of fundraising events during the year and would welcome new ideas and contacts. If you work for a company that is able to sponsor or donate to fundraising in the school please contact the school office - ditton.office@wpat.uk

We hold parents evening once every half term. These meetings are face to face and can be booked via our communications app, SchoolPing.

Our school is fully wheelchair accessible. We are built on one level and have disabled bays to the front of our main reception. If you have any additional questions regarding this, please feel free to speak to our school office.
