At Ditton Primary Academy School we believe learning a modern foreign language is an exciting introduction to other cultures and aids pupils’ curiosity whilst deepening their understanding of the world. Our teaching enables pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in Spanish and to understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing.
The teaching of modern foreign languages provides opportunities for pupils to communicate for practical purposes, learn new ways of thinking as well as developing problem solving skills.
Our pupils will understand and respond to spoken and written language taught by a language specialist, who uses quality resources from the Primary Language Network. Children will be equipped with key skills as well as speaking with increased confidence, fluency and spontaneity.
Furthermore, our pupils will find ways of communicating what they want to say, including through discussion and asking questions, and continually improving the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation.
